The Rich Fool Prayer

The Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:13–21) serves as a powerful reminder that our lives are not measured by the abundance of our possessions, but by the richness of our soul before God.

A Prayer for a Heart Toward God

Lord,

I come before You acknowledging that everything I have—every breath, every talent, and every resource—is a gift from Your hand. Help me to remember that I am a steward of Your grace, not an owner of my life.

Deliver me from the spirit of the "Rich Fool." Guard my heart against the quiet creep of greed and the false security that comes from full barns and growing accounts. Forgive me for the times I have looked at my successes and said to myself, "Soul, you have many goods laid up; take your ease," forgetting that my life is held in Your hands alone.

Grant me the wisdom to:

 * Build what lasts: Help me invest in things that do not rust or fade—kindness, justice, and love.

 * See the needs of others: When my harvest is plentiful, let me not think of how to build larger barns, but how to open my hands wider to those in need.

 * Find rest in You: Remind me that true peace does not come from financial "ease," but from the presence of Your Spirit.

Teach me what it means to be "rich toward God." May I live today with eternity in view, knowing that when You call my name, the only things I carry with me are the treasures I gave away in Your name.

In Jesus' Name

Amen.
